Dominican Republic promotes digital economy at Open Fair 2026

Vice President Raquel Peña opened the inaugural Open Fair 2026, an event organized by Cecomsa designed to showcase technological innovation and digital economy opportunities in the Dominican Republic.

During the event, Peña highlighted the government's commitment to digital transformation through initiatives such as the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy. She noted strategic cooperation agreements with global corporations, including Google and NVIDIA, specifically mentioning efforts to foster the semiconductor industry within the country.

The fair, themed “Innovation that connects us,” brought together major international brands such as Microsoft, Dell Technologies, Cisco, Fortinet, and Kaspersky. These companies presented solutions regarding cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and corporate process modernization. Peña emphasized that strengthening technical and professional education is essential to align the national workforce with the demands of the evolving global technological market.
