Dominican Republic wins first Fuerzas Comando title in Paraguay
The Dominican Republic's Special Forces team secured first place for the first time in history at the Fuerzas Comando 2026 international competition held in Paraguay. The event brought together elite units from 17 American countries to compete in high-intensity tactical and physical challenges, including precision shooting, obstacle courses, hostage rescue maneuvers, and mental stress evaluations.
Following the victory, the Dominican Ministry of Defense (MIDE), led by Minister Carlos Antonio Fernández Onofre, held a ceremony to honor the team. Members received the Ministry of Defense Recognition for Merit, as well as Military, Naval, and Air Merit orders.
Colombia's Special Forces Group also achieved a notable performance, securing second place in the competition. The Colombian delegation was recognized for its technical skill and strategic level during the rigorous operational tests designed to simulate transnational crime and anti-terrorism scenarios.
