Dominican Republic expands programs for women's economic empowerment
The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and MIPYMES (MICM) and the Ministry of Women signed a cooperation agreement launching the “Mujeres que Lideran” initiative. The partnership announced 150 scholarships for an Executive Leadership program and outlined joint actions to promote gender equity in industry, MIPYMES and the broader entrepreneurial ecosystem.
The political party País Posible organized a bazar called “Liderar y Emprender es Posible,” where more than 30 women entrepreneurs displayed and sold their products while receiving training in finance, social media, and business development.
The government also increased the “Mujer Rural” credit fund by RD 250 million. Twenty‑two women farmers received loans of RD 17.7 million at interest rates ranging from 0 % to 8 % to finance agro‑industrial projects and strengthen rural incomes.
