According to the Ministry of Public Health, maternal mortality has decreased by 20% and infant mortality by approximately 2% during the first 36 weeks of 2026 compared to the previous year. Additionally, malaria cases have dropped by 82%.
On the economic front, the country is actively seeking international partnerships. The 12th Dominican Week in the United Kingdom will take place in London from November 1 to 5, 2026, focusing on energy, technology, and nearshoring opportunities. Meanwhile, the nation is also promoting its tourism profile internationally, including as the guest of honor at the International Tourism Fair (FIT) in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Domestic business sectors are also evolving. The Association of Multiple Banks reported a 44% increase in physical access points over eight years, driven by ATMs and banking agents. In the industrial sector, Santiago Business City was recognized for innovation in industrial parks, and there are ongoing legislative proposals to prioritize health tourism as a national economic driver.
