Dominican Republic seizes 213,355 gallons of fuel and 46 million regulated items

The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Mipymes (MICM) and the Specialized Fuel Control Corps (CECCOM) reported that, in the first seven months of 2026, they confiscated about 213,355 gallons of fuel and roughly 46 million units of regulated merchandise—including medicines, cigarettes, sexual stimulants and alcohol—across the Dominican Republic.

Minister Yayo Sanz Lovatón said the actions protect public health, increase state tax revenue and curb unfair competition. CECCOM director Brigadier General Orlando Jerez Espaillat noted the results stem from strict enforcement of Law 17‑19 on illicit trade, Law 112‑00 on hydrocarbons and the General Health Law.

Operationally, CECCOM carried out more than 5,200 patrols, inspected 4,000 transport units, conducted 5,243 supervision checks, and intervened in 668 commercial establishments. The campaign led to 84 judicial raids, the seizure of 73 vehicles and the detention of 59 individuals for investigative purposes.
