Dominican Republic social experts warn of rising uncertainty and value crisis

Discussions in the Dominican Republic have highlighted a growing sense of social uncertainty and a crisis of values. In a recent debate on the program ‘Panorama Semanal’, journalist Domingo Páez and doctors Héctor Guerrero and Ricardo Nieves analyzed how structural and technological changes have created a state of constant unpredictability. They noted that the rapid technological revolution and the evolution of urban structures are impacting individual identity and social cohesion. The discussion also addressed the limitations of artificial intelligence and the failure of traditional educational systems to adapt to new digital realities.

Complementing this view on social instability, communicator Julio Martínez Pozo addressed the erosion of moral foundations among the youth. He warned that the absence of fundamental values and guidance is being filled by alternative, dangerous belief systems. Martínez Pozo noted that young people who lack traditional moral orientation often turn to figures such as ‘Santa Muerte’ or ‘Jesús Malverde’ as spiritual references, suggesting that without a restoration of social and familial guidance, the nation faces increased danger.
