The Dominican Republic is seeing several institutional developments within its security and defense sectors. Major General Ernesto Rafael Rodríguez García, the new Director of the National Police, has emphasized a commitment to internal discipline, stating the institution is one of the most active in sanctioning irregular employee conduct. His administration is focusing on police reform, investigative training, and improving the relationship between officers and citizens.

In the regional police command for María Trinidad Sánchez and Samaná, General Julio César Acosta Félix announced a management plan focused on citizen security and following up on pending criminal investigations.
