Dominican Republic spotlights 2026 tourism with water‑sports event and internationally‑ranked beaches
The coastal town of Cabarete will host the Cabarete Clasisc water‑sports competition in early July 2026, serving as a warm‑up for the Central American and Caribbean Games that will be held in Santo Domingo later that month. Organized by promoter Pablito Guzmán, the event will feature windsurf, kitesurf, wingfoil, windsurf foil and the debut of kitesurf foil, with more than 80 athletes expected from the United States, Curaçao, Puerto Rico, Argentina, Switzerland, England, Canada, San Martin, Colombia and the Dominican Republic.
Meanwhile, five Dominican beaches have earned international recognitions in the first half of 2026. Canto de la Playa, Bahía de las Águilas, Playa Bávaro, Playa Bonita and Playa de Los Patos appear on lists compiled by Lonely Planet, TripAdvisor, National Geographic, Travel + Leisure and other travel guides, ranking them among the best in the world, North America and the Caribbean.
