Dominican Supreme Court President Luis Henry Molina Resigns, Council to Choose New Judges

Luis Henry Molina, the president of the Dominican Republic's Supreme Court of Justice, announced he will not seek another term, ending his tenure after one cycle. His decision prompted reactions in the National Congress, where legislators praised his commitment to a single term and highlighted his role in modernising the court, including the implementation of a digitalisation law.

The National Council of the Magistracy (Consejo Nacional de la Magistratura), the constitutional body that appoints the eleven new Supreme Court judges, will now convene to select Molina's successors. The council was originally created thirty‑two years ago to strengthen judicial independence and democratic governance in the Dominican Republic.
