Dominican Republic DGCP suspends 11 senators' supplier registrations

The Dirección General de Contrataciones Públicas (DGCP) in the Dominican Republic has suspended the Registro de Proveedores del Estado (RPE) of eleven senators as part of the implementation of Law 47‑25, which came into force in January. The measure is described as preventive and administrative, not a sanction, and aims to enforce the new absolute incompatibility regime that bars elected officials from any shareholding, directorship, or managerial role in companies that supply the state. The DGCP gave officials a 15‑day window, via circular DGCP44‑PNP‑2026‑001, to request voluntary suspension; after the deadline, the suspensions were applied automatically under article 69 of the application regulation. By mid‑year, a total of 81 RPEs belonging to elected and designated officials have been suspended under the new law, compared with 591 suspensions under the previous Law 340‑06, which allowed up to a 10 % shareholding. Named senators include Moisés Ayala Pérez, Santiago José Zorrilla, Jonhson Encarnación Díaz, Carlos Manuel Gómez Ureña, Ginnette Altagracia Bournigal de Jiménez, Gustavo Lara Salazar, Daniel Enrique de Jesús Rivera Reyes, Bernardo Alemán Rodríguez, Casimiro Antonio Marte Familia, and Alexis Victoria Yeb. The DGCP emphasized that the suspensions do not imply any irregular contracting activity by the legislators.
