Dominican Republic to host Ibero-American Museum Meeting and FENATE 2026
The Dominican Republic is set to host several significant cultural events. Santo Domingo will serve as the venue for the 12th Ibero-American Museum Meeting from September 14 to 16, 2026. Organized by the Ministry of Culture, the General Directorate of Museums, and the Ibermuseos Program, the event will focus on the theme ‘Shared heritages, common futures,’ addressing topics such as artificial intelligence in museum narratives and climate change risks.
Additionally, the 9th National Theater Festival (FENATE 2026) will take place from October 22 to November 1, 2026. Dedicated to actress Olga Bucarelli, the festival aims to decentralize the arts by bringing 32 shows and 75 performances to various provinces and communities, including Santiago, Puerto Plata, and Moca.
Other local cultural activities include a season of five plays at Microteatro Santo Domingo throughout September, exploring themes of family and desire, and a performance by the group Aljadaqui at Parque Colón, which drew over 4,000 attendees.
