Dominican Republic theater scene features diverse upcoming productions
The Dominican Republic is seeing a diverse range of theatrical productions scheduled for August and September. In Santiago, the play “Perdida Mente” will be performed at the Gran Teatro del Cibao on September 4 and 5. The production features actresses Cecilia García, Karina Noble, Olga Bucarelli, Pachy Méndez, and Laura Rivera, accompanied by an original soundtrack composed by Dante Cucurullo.
In Santo Domingo, several different productions are taking the stage. “Mansión Herminia,” directed by Orestes Amador, will run at the Teatro Nacional’s Sala Ravelo throughout early September, exploring themes of power and nightlife during the Joaquín Balaguer era. Additionally, the comedy “Infiel por una causa,” starring Cheddy García and Erlyn Saúl, is scheduled for performances at Microteatro Santo Domingo in late August.
These various stagings highlight a period of active cultural engagement across the country, ranging from dramatic historical explorations to contemporary comedy.
