Dominican Republic hosts Olympic Solidarity Forum for Los Angeles 2028

The Dominican Republic is hosting the 2026 International Olympic Solidarity Forum for the Americas in Santo Domingo. Supported by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Panam Sports, the forum runs from August 17 to 21. It aims to provide technical guidance, training, and operational updates to National Olympic Committees (NOCs) to prepare delegations for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

Following the conclusion of the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games, the Dominican Olympic Committee (COD) is also facing an internal transition. The organization is entering an electoral period for the presidency with at least seven candidates, including current president Garibaldy Bautista and Secretary General Luis Chanlatte. This election follows a period of fragmentation among former political allies within the committee.

Additionally, the Dominican Chamber of Deputies has passed a resolution recognizing the historic performance of national athletes at the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games, where the delegation secured 150 official medals.
