Dominican Republic fuels sector sees summit, price freeze and banking dispute

The Dominican Republic will host the First Caribbean Service Station Summit on 3 November 2026 at the Renaissance Santo Domingo Jaragua Hotel. Organized by EH+ Energía e Hidrocarburos and Surtidores LATAM with the backing of the National Association of Gasoline Retailers (ANADEGAS), the event will bring together public officials, oil companies, distributors and technology providers to discuss market trends, regulatory frameworks and investment opportunities in the region.

For the week of 18 – 24 July 2026, the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs kept the prices of gasoline, diesel, kerosene and LPG unchanged, applying a subsidy of RD$875.3 million to protect consumers from rising oil prices caused by geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. Specific retail prices remained at RD$338.10 for premium gasoline, RD$302.50 for regular gasoline, RD$254.80 for diesel, among others.

ANADEGAS reported that negotiations with banks over commissions charged for Verifone electronic payment terminals at its 780 member stations are ongoing. The association has proposed a fixed fee of 30 centavos per gallon for electronic transactions and warned that, without an agreement, it may withdraw Verifone devices, which could affect consumer pricing.

Aviation fuel prices rose sharply: Avtur (Jet A‑1) increased by RD$28.84 to RD$268.89 per gallon, while kerosene rose by RD$31.20 to RD$306.40 per gallon, reflecting higher international crude prices and regional market pressures.
