Dominican Republic to host international MMA event

A major international mixed martial arts (MMA) event is scheduled for Friday, October 2, at the Taekwondo Pavilion of the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center in the Dominican Republic. The event is a joint presentation by promoters Gamebred FC and Fighting Force.

The card features several high-profile fighters from organizations such as the UFC, PFL, and Bellator. The main event will feature former UFC light heavyweight title challenger Anthony Smith against Jordan Heiderman, a 2023 PFL heavyweight tournament semi-finalist.

Other notable matchups include Dominican fighter Jhonasky “La Máquina” Sojo against Kurt Holobaugh, and Elías “La Mole” Santos in a rematch against Landon Quiñones. Sojo and Santos are competing for a chance to advance to semifinals and vie for a $500,000 prize pool.
