Dominican Republic tourism groups set 2026‑27 strategy and mark Father's Day
The Dominican Association of Restaurants (Aderes) held its Annual Assembly and outlined strategic priorities for 2026‑2027 to further position the country’s gastronomic tourism. Key initiatives include designating September as Dominican Gastronomy Month, strengthening the sector’s value chain, advancing education and employment programs, and launching the “Santo Domingo Exquisito” project with the Santo Domingo Tourism Cluster and UNIBE. Aderes also released its first Economic Study of the restaurant and bar sector and updated its Sustainable Gastronomic Tourism Plan, while participating in Meta RD 2036 through the Tourism Sectoral Table. The association presented its 2025‑2026 achievements and announced upcoming activities such as Restaurant Week, Tapas Night and the inaugural Gastronomic Congress.
At the same time, the Dominican Association of Tourism Press (Adompretur) celebrated Father’s Day with a special event at the Ron Barceló Historic Center in San Pedro de Macorís. Journalists toured the facility, learning about the history and production of Dominican rum. The program featured remarks from Cristina Rosario, director of Culture and Tourism at Adompretur, and Karina Gómez Herrera, global communications manager at Ron Barceló, who highlighted the company’s cultural legacy. Participants visited aging warehouses and observed the rum‑making process, reinforcing the link between the country’s heritage and its tourism offerings.
