Dominican Republic tourism hits record 6.6 million arrivals in first half of 2026

The Dominican Republic welcomed 6,616,671 visitors between January and June 2026, a 7.7% increase over the same period in 2025 and an 11% rise from 2024, according to Tourism Minister David Collado. June alone recorded 975,012 arrivals, up 6% year‑on‑year, and the country is on track to surpass 12 million visitors by year‑end.

The bulk of arrivals came by air (4,963,542) and cruise ships (1,653,129). The United States supplied the largest share of tourists in June (53%), followed by Colombia (8%) and Canada (7%). Hotel occupancy for the January‑June period averaged 71%, and visitor satisfaction reached 4.4 out of 5. A high 92% of guests said they would return, and 60% would recommend the destination.

Collado highlighted the strong performance as a sign that the Dominican tourism sector is in its best shape, projecting continued growth through the remainder of the year.
