Dominican Republic upgrades power grid and expands electric‑vehicle service facilities

Edesur Dominicana announced a RD$649,154,324 investment to reinforce its electricity distribution network across the Greater Santo Domingo area and several provinces, aiming to serve more than 550,000 customers. The program includes new medium‑voltage circuits, upgrades at the Paraíso, Matadero and UASD substations, and works on facilities in Barahona, San José de Ocoa and other locales to reduce overloads and improve supply reliability.

Zero Emisión RD opened an expanded specialized service centre in Los Prados, Santo Domingo, to meet the rising demand for electric‑vehicle maintenance. The new facility provides diagnostic, preventive and high‑voltage repair capabilities, benefits from a partnership with Evolution Parts for spare‑parts supply, and acts as the exclusive Dominican distributor for ARCFOX. Founder Charles Sánchez said the expansion “responds to the evolution of electric mobility in the country” and highlighted training programmes for public and private institutions.
