United States advances to NORCECA volleyball final after defeating Dominican Republic
The 2026 NORCECA Women's Continental Volleyball Championship in Santo Domingo has reached its decisive stages, offering qualification spots for the 2027 FIVB Women's World Championship and pathways toward the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.
In the semifinals, the United States defeated the Dominican Republic 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-10) to advance to the gold medal match against Canada. The American team was led by Simone Lee Wank, Asjia O’Neal, and Logan Eggleston. The Dominican Republic, known as the 'Reinas del Caribe', will compete for the bronze medal against Cuba.
Cuba secured its place in the semifinals and a spot in the 2027 World Championship after defeating Mexico 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 25-20). Puerto Rico finished the tournament in seventh place after defeating Trinidad and Tobago 3-0.
Separately, the Dominican Republic has been announced as a major hub for youth baseball, set to host several WBSC international tournaments including the U-18 Premundial in October 2026.
