Dominican Republic women's volleyball team defeats China and Ukraine in VNL Group 8 matches

The Dominican Republic women's volleyball squad, ranked 13th in the world, secured two recent victories in the Volleyball Nations League (VNL) Group 8. On July 12 they edged Ukraine 3‑2 (26‑17, 25‑16, 22‑25, 19‑25, 15‑13), with captain Brayelin Martínez scoring 29 points. Four days later the team beat China 3‑1 (25‑22, 21‑25, 25‑23, 26‑24), Martínez adding 20 points and teammates Yonkaira Peña (18), Gaila González (16) and Jineirys Martínez (12) contributing offensively, while libero Yaneirys Rodríguez led the defense.

These wins improved the Dominican record to 3‑8 in the regular round and set up a final group match against Canada. The team’s strong performances highlight its continued competitiveness in the international tournament.
