The Dominican Republic women's national volleyball team earned its first victory in the 2026 FIVB Volleyball Nations League, beating Japan 3‑1 (17‑25, 25‑20, 28‑26, 25‑23) in Pasig City, Philippines. The win ended a six‑match losing streak and improved the team's record to one win and six defeats.

Key contributors included outside hitter Flormatie Heredia Colón with 17 points, Jineirys Martínez (14), Yonkaira Peña (13), Alondra Tapia (11) and Brayelin Martínez, who entered in the decisive moments of the third and fourth sets. Japan’s top scorers were Yukiko Wada (17) and Yoshino Sato (16).

Following the victory, the Dominican Republic will face Czechia in the final match of the second leg before traveling to Hong Kong for the third leg of the tournament.
