Dominican Republic's JCE implements new civil registry fees and ID collection
The Central Electoral Board (JCE) of the Dominican Republic has established a fee of RD$600 for the issuance of birth certificates under a new unified format. Effective July 1, 2025, this single format applies to birth, recognition, marriage, divorce, and death certificates, eliminating previous distinctions between extract and inextensa versions.
Existing certificates issued before July 1, 2025, that feature a QR code remain valid, and citizens are not required to replace them automatically unless requested by a specific entity. Citizens can obtain these documents at any civil registry office or authorized centers listed on the JCE website.
Additionally, the JCE has issued a call for minors, members of the National Police, military personnel, and legal foreign residents who have completed their identification processes to collect their new identity cards. Foreign residents can pick up updated cards at any of the three designated centers for foreigners or at the JCE headquarters. New applications for foreign residents must be processed at specific locations in the Distrito Nacional and Verón.
