Dominican court rejects nullity request, sets July 22 trial date for former prosecutor Jean Alain Rodríguez

The Second Tribunal Colegiado of the National District in the Dominican Republic declared the defense's request to nullify the opening order in the corruption case against former Attorney General Jean Alain Rodríguez Sánchez and his co‑accused inadmissible. Judges Claribel Nivar (president), Clara Castillo and Yisel Soto ruled that the use of the nickname “Medusa” did not constitute a constitutional violation, but ordered all parties to refrain from using it. The court scheduled the continuation of the trial for 22 July 2026 at 09:00. Prosecutors, led by adjunct prosecutor Wilson Camacho and Mirna Ortiz of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Administrative Corruption, will pursue charges that include bribery, embezzlement, fraud against the state and money‑laundering, tied to alleged misappropriation of more than RD$6 billion during Rodríguez’s tenure from 2016 to 2020.
