Dominican Republic's ruling PRM pushes internal strengthening ahead of elections
Communicator Luz Jiménez warned the Partido Revolucionario Moderno (PRM) that the governing party must prioritize strengthening local officials—mayors, deputies and senators—before concentrating on the presidential nomination process. She cautioned that neglecting local representation could jeopardise the party's congressional majority.
Deputy Rafael "Rafelín" Pérez announced his recent entry into the PRM, saying the party guarantees democracy and promotes a generational leadership renewal. Pérez praised President Luis Abinader’s development agenda for Pedernales and the South, and expressed gratitude to party leaders for his warm welcome.
In Puerto Plata, engineer Igor Rodríguez Durán was ratified for a two‑year term as provincial PRM president, receiving 95.5% of delegate votes. He and the provincial committee highlighted continued cohesion, institutional strengthening and preparation for forthcoming electoral contests.
