Dominican Senate honors Monsignor Ramón Benito de la Rosa y Carpio

The Senate of the Dominican Republic honored Monsignor Ramón Benito de la Rosa y Carpio for his more than 60 years of pastoral, educational, and intellectual service to Dominican society. The Metropolitan Archbishop Emeritus of Santiago de los Caballeros received a formal recognition scroll during a ceremony led by Senate President Ricardo de los Santos.

During the event, Monsignor De la Rosa y Carpio praised the National Congress as a pillar of Dominican democracy. He specifically noted the current Senate's openness to dialogue, stating, “Currently, I am not going to say many things, but the perception is that it is very open to dialogue. Today you have open ears, and that is a sign of democracy.”

Senator Rafael Barón Duluc Rijo, who proposed the legislative piece, highlighted the Monsignor's contributions to the Church and the formation of multiple generations. Senate President Ricardo de los Santos described the clergyman as an example of service, particularly noting his humanitarian efforts and messages of faith during the COVID-19 pandemic.
