Dominican Senator Omar Fernández Distributes Fondo Gadiel Aid to Children with Autism and Down Syndrome

Dominican Senator Omar Fernández announced that the public Fondo Gadiel provided assistance to children with autism, Down syndrome and other neurodevelopmental conditions for the months of April and June. The aid included the distribution of 50 sensory books to public and private institutions, as well as partial funding for speech and occupational therapy, neuro‑psychological evaluations, school tuition and transportation. Fernández stressed that the money comes from tax‑paid public funds and must be managed transparently, noting that no salary can fully cover the needs of families caring for such children. He said each therapy, evaluation and school day helps the children gain greater autonomy and a better quality of life.
