Dominican Social Policy Cabinet develops reintegration plan for deportees
The Dominican Social Policy Cabinet is formulating a Migratory Return and Social Insertion Plan to strengthen the reception and social reintegration of deported Dominican citizens. The initiative aims to facilitate better access to state social protection services for returning populations.
A commission from the Cabinet, led by the General Directorate of Migration (DGM), recently conducted an assessment of current reception procedures. The process includes monitoring arrivals at Las Américas International Airport (AILA) and the subsequent transfer, orientation, and registration of citizens at the Haina Vacation Center.
During a recent session, the DGM processed 129 returnees, consisting of 122 men and seven women. At the Haina facility, returnees receive institutional orientation, food, and medical assistance, as well as administrative registration for follow-up. Government officials highlighted existing programs, such as Oportunidad 14-24 and CEDI-Mujer, as potential resources for those being reintegrated into society.
