Dominican Society of Spine Surgery opens 10th Congress with SILACO International Course

The Dominican Society of Spine Surgery (SDCC) inaugurated its 10th Congress on Wednesday in La Altagracia, hosting the 5th International Course of the Iberolatinoamerican Spine Society (SILACO). The three‑day scientific program runs from July 29 to August 1 at the Live Aqua Punta Cana Convention Center and targets neurosurgeons, orthopedic spine surgeons, traumatologists, pain specialists, physiatrists, physiotherapists and residents.

The opening featured a Research Project workshop and a pediatric scoliosis module that addressed scientific research, the use of artificial intelligence in medicine, and recent advances in diagnosis and treatment. SDCC President Dr. Carlos Rodríguez, who also presented, emphasized that the congress will allow specialists to update their knowledge and learn the latest therapeutic innovations, improving patient care. Former president Dr. Johan Fernández and other national and international experts also contributed lectures, case presentations and hands‑on sessions covering scoliosis, trauma, degenerative disease, tumors, endoscopic surgery, bone weakness, infections and cervical pathology.
