Dominican Summer League features strong performances from Phillies and Reds affiliates
The Dominican Summer League (DSL) saw notable performances from the Phillies and Reds minor league affiliates during the 2026 season.
The DSL Phillies, operating with a single, talent-concentrated team, finished the regular season with a 36-20 record. Despite injuries to Juan Parra and Yilmar Samudio during the postseason, the team won their division and reached the playoffs, ultimately finishing 2-1 in the DSL Cup. Francisco Renteria earned DSL MVP honors, posting a .379 batting average and a 1.544 OPS in August.
The DSL Reds also secured a postseason berth after a strong finish, winning nine of their last ten games to end the regular season at 36-19. The team was led by pitcher Ysaias Escalona, who went 10-0 with a 0.99 ERA during the regular season. Other key contributors included Angel Nunez Jr., a record $3 million international signing, and Eider Gutierrez, both of whom were named DSL All-Stars.
