ETED Restores Power to Jimaní After Transmission Tower Collapse

On July 4, 2026 two 69 kV transmission towers collapsed and a third suffered severe damage on the line serving Jimaní in the Dominican Republic, cutting electricity to the community. The Empresa de Transmisión Eléctrica Dominicana (ETED) mobilized specialized brigades, installed provisional wooden‑post structures and repaired damaged metal components. By 3:03 a.m. on July 6, less than 48 hours after the incident, ETED re‑energized the Cruce de Cabral–Duvergé line and restored distribution circuits to Jimaní. Executive Vice President Alfonso Rodríguez Tejada personally supervised the work and affirmed the organization’s commitment to rapid service recovery. ETED plans to replace the provisional structures with permanent metal towers and is conducting technical investigations into the cause of the collapse.

The restoration was reported in several local outlets, highlighting the coordinated technical response and the agency’s intent to maintain stability of the National Interconnected Electric System (SENI).
