Dominican transport bodies probe procurement while honoring drivers on Father's Day
The National Federation of Transport (Fenatrano), led by President Juan Hubieres, asked the Directorate General of Public Procurement to investigate a Ministry of Education tender (Minerd‑CCC‑PEPU‑2026‑0007) that used a single‑supplier exception for the Student Transport System. Fenatrano claims the process violated Law 47‑25 and Decree 52‑26, that the justification report was issued after the exemption was approved, and that the procedure excluded other qualified companies, undermining transparency and competition.
Separately, Tito Cambita, president of the drivers' union Mochotran, celebrated Dominican fathers on Father's Day, praising male drivers for their sacrifice and citing the legacy of his father, Alfredo Pulinario, known as the "father of organized transport" in the country. Cambita emphasized values of responsibility, solidarity and service among drivers.
