Dominican TV Producer Iván Ruiz Broadcasts Live from Doña Pula Restaurant
Producer and communicator Iván Ruiz, director of the midday show and creator of the “La Telerealidad” concept, staged a special live transmission from the Doña Pula restaurant on Santo Domingo’s Malecón Deportivo. The event turned the popular eatery into an open‑air TV set, allowing spontaneous public participation and showcasing local culture. National District mayor Carolina Mejía praised the initiative, highlighting its role in promoting Dominican identity and encouraging the program to continue engaging the community from real‑world locations.
The broadcast is part of a broader celebration of Dominican television’s more than seven‑decade history. The industry reflects the contributions of pioneers such as Yaqui Núñez del Risco, María Cristina Camilo and Freddy Beras‑Goico, and continues to be led by figures like Jochy Santos, Luz García and Iván Ruiz. Despite the rise of digital platforms, television remains a dominant medium for news, entertainment and national events, with plans to further innovate and document local realities across the country.
