La Altagracia police arrest over 20 for electrical material theft

The Dominican National Police have arrested more than 20 individuals in La Altagracia province following a series of raids and operations targeting the theft of electrical materials. The investigations have addressed approximately 20 completed cases of stolen wires, cables, pipes, and other equipment, as well as one attempted theft.

Police interventions took place across several sectors, including Higüey, Verón, Bávaro, and La Otra Banda. In Los Platanitos, authorities recovered tools and investigated cases involving the sale of stolen cables at a metalworking facility. During raids, officers seized various items, including an electric guillotine, an inverter, rolls of wire, piping, submerged pumps, and Trojan brand batteries.

In Verón, an individual was caught in flagrante delicto while transporting rolls of electrical wire. Additionally, near the Autovía del Coral, authorities recovered electrical materials and discovered a homemade firearm in a wooded area, which is currently being investigated for potential links to the thefts.
