Dominican woman found dead in Bronx before planned trip to Dominican Republic

A Dominican woman, Josefa Soto, was found dead in the Bronx just one day before she was scheduled to travel to the Dominican Republic with her son. Her husband, Johny Guzmán, discovered her body on a sofa with injuries to her head and torso.

Guzmán stated that his son, who has a history of mental health issues, may have struck his mother during an episode of anxiety. The husband suggested the incident might have occurred when Soto attempted to prevent her son from leaving the apartment. While the son was located several blocks away following an anonymous tip, the NYPD has not yet confirmed the specific circumstances surrounding the death, and the investigation remains open.
