Dominican youths surpass 100 hours in Guinness reading challenge
Five Dominican youths have surpassed the first 100 hours of continuous reading as part of the ‘Juventud en Voz Alta’ initiative. The challenge, organized by the Ministry of Youth, aims to reclaim the Guinness World Record for team reading aloud, which is currently held by Nigeria.
The participants—Maikol Yafrani Arias Sánchez, Mayury Ariaany Vélez Sánchez, Abril Sharmin del Rosario Jiménez, Franchesca Alí Minier Suárez, and Ismael Alejandro Durán de la Rosa—began their attempt on August 31 at 6:00 PM. The challenge is intended to last for 20 days.
To maintain the record attempt, participants must follow strict rules: each person must read for a minimum of 30 minutes and a maximum of three hours, with shifts organized in two-hour blocks. Any interruption lasting longer than 30 seconds could disqualify the attempt. The Ministry of Youth is monitoring the physical health of the participants throughout the process.
