Dominik Hołuj receives bionic hand prosthesis following train accident
Dominik Hołuj, a teenager who lost both legs and part of his hand in a train accident near Radom, has reached a new milestone in his rehabilitation. Following the incident at Wola Bierwiecka station, where he was injured while attempting to assist a woman with a stroller, Hołuj has begun learning to use a bionic hand prosthesis.
The bionic device uses muscle impulses to trigger motors, allowing the user to grasp and move objects. This follows the previous acquisition of a leg prosthesis that has improved his stability while using a wheelchair.
A fundraising campaign by the Podaruj Dobro Foundation is currently at 77 percent of its goal to cover ongoing medical and rehabilitation costs.
