FC Barcelona signs Croatian goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic
FC Barcelona has officially signed Croatian international goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic from Turkish club Fenerbahçe. The 31-year-old has signed a four-year contract that will keep him at the club until June 30, 2030.
The transfer is valued at approximately 4 million euros, consisting of a 2 million euro fixed fee plus an additional 2 million euros in performance-based bonuses. While Barcelona originally planned to wait until the following summer to replace Wojciech Szczęsny, the club decided to accelerate the deal.
Livakovic, a veteran of three World Cups and two European Championships, is expected to provide depth and competition in the goalkeeping department. His role within the squad is still being finalized; he may serve as a primary backup to Joan García or potentially join the team on loan to a club like Dinamo Zagreb to ensure playing time before fully integrating into the first team.
Livakovic’s career includes significant success with Dinamo Zagreb, where he won seven league titles, and a recent stint in Spain with Girona on loan. He joins a Barcelona squad currently managed by Hansi Flick.
