Domna Michailidou addresses child protection and social welfare in Greece

Domna Michailidou, the Greek Minister of Social Cohesion and Family, addressed child protection and social welfare policies during a seminar hosted by the National Centre for Social Solidarity (EKKA). Her speech focused on the importance of early intervention, recognizing signs of abuse, and addressing modern forms of violence such as bullying.

Michailidou emphasized the need for cooperation between schools, families, and authorities to protect children. She highlighted the ongoing efforts toward deinstitutionalization, noting that while approximately 2,200 children were in institutions in 2019, the system is transitioning toward child protection units.
