Domokos Prison: Five injured in violent inmate clash

A violent clash occurred on the evening of Monday, September 14, 2026, at the Domokos detention facility, resulting in five injuries. The incident reportedly began around 20:30 when a group of inmates from wing G1 managed to move to a wing on the ground floor, where they launched an attack on other prisoners.

During the confrontation, inmates used improvised sharp objects and exchanged heavy blows. Two foreign inmates sustained injuries from sharp objects and blunt force to the ribs, requiring emergency transport to the Lamia General Hospital. Three other inmates, including one Greek national, were treated at the Domokos Health Center for minor injuries.

Reports suggest the violence may be linked to a struggle for dominance following the absence of Alket Rizai. Local police and correctional authorities have launched an investigation, and searches are being conducted within the prison cells to locate additional improvised weapons.
