Domovinski Pokret rift: Josip Dabro challenges President Ivan Penava
Following the Domovinski Pokret (DP) coalition with the HDZ, the party experienced a major internal split. Party secretary Josip Dabro resigned in April and has since publicly denounced party president Ivan Penava, claiming Penava sabotaged a DP‑drafted resolution to strengthen the political position of Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina and portraying him as an authoritarian manipulator.
Penava has not responded to Dabro’s accusations. The dispute also coincides with HDZ leader Andrej Plenković urging DP MP Tomislav Sokol to leave the European Parliament, a move that has triggered a disciplinary procedure. The confrontation highlights growing tensions within DP and may affect its stability within the governing coalition.
