Don Antonio Mazzi remembered in Milan as Archbishop Delpini honors his legacy

Don Antonio Mazzi, founder of the Community Exodus that supports people struggling with drug addiction and social marginalisation, died on 31 July. Archbishop Mario Delpini of Milan issued a tribute from Brazil, where he is on a pastoral visit, urging the faithful to "read the sign that he was and gather his inheritance". Delpini said Mazzi’s faith made him free and highlighted his public work, television appearances and provocative interventions, but stressed that the most authentic memories are those of his collaborators and the people he helped through Exodus.

Because his trip to Brazil runs until 7 August, Delpini will not attend Mazzi’s funeral scheduled for 3 August at the Basilica of Sant’Ambrogio in Milan. The Archdiocese will be represented by Vicar General Franco Agnesi. The archbishop’s message underlined Mazzi’s lasting impact on those who found a lifeline in the Exodus community.
