Don Artemio restaurant completes seven-year renovation in Saltillo
The Don Artemio restaurant in Saltillo has completed a seven-year remodeling project, marked by the installation of a new sculptural mural. The piece was created by artists Alejandro Fuentes Quesada and Avelina Fuentes, alongside architect Luis González Díaz de León.
The mural is primarily constructed using Saltillo Tile, a traditional local clay floor material, to create a contemporary work of art. The design depicts the local territory, specifically referencing the canyons of the Sierra de Arteaga.
The extensive renovation included several areas of the establishment, such as the Cava del Desierto, the El Telar salon, the patio, and the facades. The architectural elements pay homage to Coahuila's history, with one facade inspired by local haciendas and another using brick to honor Saltillo's historic center. Additionally, a chandelier inspired by looms was installed to reference the city's textile industry and the tradition of the sarape.
