Don Gaetano Lo Giudice, veteran priest of Milo and Fornazzo, dies at 85

Don Gaetano Lo Giudice, emeritus parish priest of the Sicilian communities of Milo and Fornazzo, died on 29 July 2026 at the age of 85. He was ordained on 30 July 1967 and had served the Milo parish for nearly five decades and Fornazzo for almost 25 years, guiding generations of faithful and assisting the region after earthquakes and lava flows.

In his final weeks he resided at the OASI centre in Aci Sant’Antonio, where a public wake was opened from the afternoon of 29 July until the morning of 30 July. His body was then transferred to the Milo parish church, where a vigil continued until the funeral ceremony on 31 July at 10:30 a.m. in the Church of Sant’Andrea Apostolo. Bishop Monsignor Antonino Raspanti expressed deep gratitude for the priest’s lifelong dedication and pastoral care.
