Spain hosts various theatrical productions of Don Juan Tenorio
Various theatrical productions of José Zorrilla’s classic, ‘Don Juan Tenorio’, are being staged across Spain. In La Laguna, Timaginas Teatro is performing at the Teatro Leal, marking a generational transition as Armando Jerez performs the role of the young Don Juan for the last time before handing the part to his son, Miguel Ángel Jerez, in 2027.
In Córdoba, the Diputación de Córdoba has rescheduled its traditional performances at the Palacio de la Merced to October 31 and November 1–3. This change follows a period of mourning decreed due to a railway accident in Toledo. The production, directed by Antonio Barrios and performed by Compañía Teatro Par, utilizes the palace's various halls as part of its scenography.
Other regional cultural activities include a production by Amigos del Teatro in Marbella, which also adjusted its dates due to the Toledo rail accident, and a contemporary adaptation titled ‘Don Juan. Cenizas y sombras’ by the company Ruido Interno at the Palacio de Festivales in Cantabria.
Beyond the classic drama, other cultural events include the musical ‘El alma al aire’ starring Pepe Nufrio in Madrid, and contemporary performances at the Teatro Alhambra in Granada, featuring Puntocero Company and Los Hermanos Cubero.
