Don King files cease and desist to block Opetaia vs. Mikaelian fight

Don King Productions has issued a cease-and-desist letter to TKO Group Holdings and Zuffa Boxing, demanding the immediate cancellation of the September 12, 2026, cruiserweight title fight between Jai Opetaia and Noel Mikaelian in Las Vegas.

Don King Productions alleges it holds exclusive worldwide promotional rights for WBC cruiserweight champion Mikaelian. The legal filing claims TKO and Zuffa Boxing engaged in tortious interference by negotiating the bout directly with Mikaelian’s manager and attorney without the promoter's consent. The letter notes that while previous discussions occurred between TKO executives, including Dana White and Harrison Whitman, no formal agreement was reached.

Jai Opetaia, the unbeaten Australian cruiserweight and face of Zuffa Boxing, has expressed resilience regarding the legal challenges. Opetaia stated that he is prepared to proceed with the fight at the T-Mobile Arena, despite what he described as being “sued by billionaires” to pressure him into withdrawing.
