Don Quijote featured on Nippon TV variety show ‘Sakusaku Himu Himu’

The Nippon TV variety program ‘Sakusaku Himu Himu ☆Oshi no Furu Yoru☆’, hosted by Daisuke Sakuma (Snow Man) and Yuki Himura (Banana Man), will feature a deep dive into the discount retailer Don Quijote in its August 15 broadcast.

The episode explores the growth of the retailer, which expanded from a small 18-tsubo shop in 1978 to a massive chain with 548 locations. Guests include Tsuyoshi Domoto, along with heavy users and experts who will discuss the store's unique business model, such as centralized purchasing combined with store-level procurement and the ‘Shikujiri-ichi’ discount events for overstock.

Viewers will also learn about Don Quijote’s unconventional private brand products and its distinctive in-store atmosphere created by professional ‘pop writers’ who design the store's famous hand-written signage.
