Don Roberts released on bond after alleged assault on Rick Ross’ son

Don Roberts, 20, has been released on a $50,000 bond following his arrest for the alleged assault of William Roberts III, the 21-year-old son of rapper Rick Ross. The incident reportedly occurred on October 11 near Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach, Florida.

According to police affidavits, William Roberts III was standing on a sidewalk with a woman when Don Roberts allegedly approached him with a handgun, threatened to kill him, and struck him on the side of the head with the firearm. While the victim reported minor swelling, he declined medical attention. Don Roberts, who is not related to the family, faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

The case has drawn significant attention due to the involvement of rapper 50 Cent, who publicly mocked Rick Ross on social media and offered to assist with the suspect's legal defense and bail. This intervention sparked a heated social media feud between 50 Cent and Tia Kemp, the mother of William Roberts III, involving personal insults and reports of cease-and-desist letters. Don Roberts has maintained his innocence.
