Don Spike to host festival pop-up and donate profits to drug recovery
Composer and entertainer Don Spike announced he will participate in the EDC Festival held at the Inspire Resort in Incheon on October 3 and 4. He plans to operate a pop-up food stall and has stated that a portion of the sales proceeds will be donated to the Drug Recovery Association to support addiction recovery and rehabilitation.
Don Spike, whose real name is Kim Min-su, is serving a period of reintegration following a two-year prison sentence for methamphetamine offenses. In 2022, he was arrested for possessing and using approximately 30g of methamphetamine, which authorities estimated was enough for 666 uses. The Supreme Court of Korea finalized his two-year sentence after he was found to have purchased 45 million won worth of drugs and used them multiple times between late 2021 and 2022. His legal proceedings also revealed prior convictions for marijuana use in 2008 and 2010.
Since his release, Don Spike has focused on the food service industry. In addition to the upcoming festival pop-up, he has indicated plans to open a new restaurant in Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province, featuring a wood-fire grill concept.
