Ucluelet arrest made in joint U.S.-Canada child exploitation case

A joint operation between Canadian and U.S. authorities led to the arrest of 62-year-old Donald Steven Lang in Ucluelet, British Columbia. Lang, a dual citizen, was wanted by the FBI for multiple counts of lewd conduct and sexual battery involving a minor in Hawaii.

Lang was located by the Ucluelet RCMP and the Vancouver Island District General Investigation Section while aboard his 52-foot sailboat, the Ishi. According to court documents, Lang allegedly produced sexually explicit images of a minor between September and December 2024. He was also reportedly subject to a separate child sex abuse case in Idaho.

In a separate legal matter in Nanaimo, a man (identified only by initials) was sentenced to six months in jail for the non-consensual distribution of intimate images of a former partner. The individual pleaded guilty to publishing and distributing explicit photos and videos of the woman between June and July 2023.
