Donald Trump accuses Democrats of trying to steal California primaries

President Donald Trump said Democrats were attempting to "steal" the California primary elections for the governor’s race and the Los Angeles mayoral race. He posted on Truth Social that the state’s vote count was delayed because of extensive verification of mail‑in ballots and that a U.S. Attorney’s Office investigation was under way.

According to reporting, Republican Steve Hilton led the gubernatorial primary with about 27.6% of the counted ballots, while Democrat Xavier Becerra trailed at 25.6%. In the mayoral contest, incumbent Democrat Karen Bass was ahead with roughly 35% and Republican Spencer Pratt held second place with about 30%. Trump had previously endorsed Hilton and described him as a "hard‑driving winner." The controversy centers on allegations of ballot‑handling irregularities and partisan accusations ahead of the runoff elections.
